We all spend hours finding the best long tail keywords to get the best traffic for our products. We may even find some buyer keywords that have low competition and we are sure we can ramp up sales with these.
Here are some other things we get involved in and they are not a bad thing. We all need traffic. Twitter has a function so we can develop followings in certain areas. Google + allows you to build groups that are targeted. Facebook allows us to build groups and fan pages. Linkedin is fairly targeted too. So we know how to get targeted traffic with excellent keywords and targeted social media. So what is better than targeted traffic? Getting a visitor to come back time and time again to read new posts and actually look for your next e-mail. It's the middle of January, but it's not to late to make a new years resolution for you business. Follow some of the suggestions below to keep those targeted visitors on your site and coming back for more. Write killer headlines for your articles Ask a question and keep the readers attention during the post. Better yet make it a little controversial. Say something like, '"Does your business actually need Twitter." Of course it does if you have a huge following, but people will read on to see what you have to say. Write killer content. The content needs to follow along with the headline and answer the question. Not only answer the question but give superior content to the reader. The reader must go away informed and looking for more great articles on your site. Make your site sticky Some of these sites you go on it seems that you have searched for "How to code php." They are drab. You know people are attracted to color. Make your site cheery but not over crowded. Depending what niche you are in, you can offer different things to keep people on your pages. Facebook is a great example of this. They make interactive games that are quit addicting. You don't have to go to that extreme but here are some methods you may consider: Make a poll or survey at the end of a post. Make it interesting though. Make a quiz that is niche related. Perhaps send one out in your emails once a week. This will make people look for your emails. Include puzzles or games on some of your pages. Keep it niche related, obviously we don't want an arcade game center on a SEO blog. A crossword here and there is cool though. Note: there are free Wordpress plugins that can do these things. Just search for them; they are easy to install. Connect a forum onto your site. If your are getting tons of questions in your in box and don't have time to answer them all, its time to build a forum. Then you can let your visitors battle it out while you are attracting even more visitors. Oh...Look! A free Gift. Find some e-books or software that you can give away when people join your list. After they have looked at your content they will be sure to sign up. Promise them more content and dedicate a day to send them e-mails. Over deliver with the content you give them and keep them informed. Introduce yourself in your first e-mails and perhaps send them to your about page. On your about page have some pictures of you and maybe your family. You want to come across to your reader a regular person. This way they can sort of connect with you and will read your posts more. Also in your e-mails. Offer something on a regular basis that will make them want to look forward to your e-mails. For example: I send my subscribers niche domain ideas every Thursday. Do some brainstorming and ask yourself, what would make me want to open an e-mail on a regular basis? There you have it. It's my wish that these steps will allow you to get targeted traffic that keeps coming back.
