I just got off the phone listening in on Squidoo's Policy changes and what is happening with Squidoo in regards to Google and their updates.
So Squidoo has gotten a bit of a hit from Google due to lenses being created that are thin content, spam, spunned, and creating topics that Google and Squidoo doesn't like, for instance, adult content, gambling, and pharmaceuticals. The reason why Squidoo was created is for people to create content that the person personally enjoys and cares about. Own what they write. Squidoo puts their trust in their lensmaster to create high quality lenses that looks good to them as well as Google, but if lensmaster keeps creating cookie cutter lenses with no value, Google will stop sending traffic to Squidoo which will hurt Squidoo as a whole as well as lensmasters. Squidoo has paid millions of dollars to writers on Squidoo and never bragged about it, but there are people who brag about making hundreds of dollars on Squidoo which brings on people who's main focus is finding ways to game the system to earn lots of money. So all those eBooks, forums, and people saying you can get rich quick with Squidoo is not the best representation of Squidoo because that's not what it's all about. When creating a lens, Squidoo is looking for: 1. Quality 2. Value 3. What Inspires You What I've noticed about when I write on Squidoo, when I write about the things I love and know a lot about, my lenses does well and get traffic from Google. I barely create sales lenses because my niche is "Working From Home" so that's what I enjoy writing about, not throwing a lens together with a list full of sales products hoping to make sales. I don't make hundreds of dollars a month like some lensmasters but I'm grateful to make money from the writing I've done. I'm thankful for Squidoo for providing a great platform for writers to write what they love and also get rewards for doing so. Glad now they're cleaning up house on their website so it'll be back to the top place for writers. So if you've been hit by Squidoo filters and get a warning, you have until 1 week to clean up your lens. And if you're a Giant member, you have 3 weeks. Luckily for myself I haven't been hit with the filter. I haven't written new articles on Squidoo lately because I've been scared about Squidoo's future, but after that 20 min. conference call, I feel a bit at ease and may start writing again soon. Update- Squidoo just posted link to Live Conference Call.

Don't give up on Squidoo Victoria. My traffic hasn't changed with my lenses and Squidoo reassured that if you don't game the system and write about what you're proud about, you wouldn't have a problem. I just posted the link to the Live Conference call so you can listen.

I usually make a few lenses on squidoo and other similar sites for each website I create. I find that their readership base is fantastic and can be a great source of traffic to my sites. But, like you said, the content needs to be top-notch and not spammy at all. Otherwise, you could risk getting your lens taken down.

Hey Mike! Since Squidoo is a high authority site, articles written by members rank well and quickly. But now since there is a lot of spam and thin content being created on Squidoo, Google has penalized the website and sending less people on there. I'm thankful that my top lenses still is getting traffic but has taken a bit of a hit.
