Reader's Help Question (How to Get More Traffic to New Blog)

Yesterday evening, I had the pleasure of receiving an email from Mama C. at MamaDoesntNeedNewShoes blog.  Mama C. has been blogging for 5 months now and needed some advice on how to build her online traffic.  I thought sharing our conversation would help others too on how to build traffic to a new blog.

I really like your blog because it's different than other Mommy blogs in which will help you stand out from the rest.  You said you've been blogging for 5 months?  Building up traffic and readers takes time.  Here are some things that'll help you build up your traffic.

1. Just like you did with my blog, you left a comment which made me in return go visit your blog and you gained a new follower.  Continue to do this with other blogs.  Networking is a must in the world of blogging.

2. Join forums in your niche.  Jump into conversations with other people in forums and start conversations.  Doing this will make people curious about who you are and will click your link in your signature to see what you're about.

3. Join writer’s platforms.  I'm currently a writer on Squidoo and their platform is what gives me the most traffic.  Squidoo and Hubpages are high authority websites that ranks high on search engines which means your articles will rank much faster than your post on your blog.  Now, you still have to write high quality articles to get them to rank.

4. I noticed you’re on Pinterest which is great because you can start pinning your blog post but you’ll need to start pinning other peoples’ post as well to start building up followers.

5. On social media, start joining groups that are in your niche.  Start networking with them and meet new people.  Visit their blogs and they’ll start visiting yours.
6. I noticed you do giveaways on your blog which is good because people like to get free things so continue to keep doing that.

7. Start guest posting on other blogs.  Find a blog that has a decent amount of traffic and ask the blogger if you can do a guest post.  I love your style of writing and I think this would be great for you!  Also allow guest to write a guest post but make sure to ask about their past work.

8. Just be you!  Be unique because readers can tell when someone is fake and they’ll never visit your blog again.  Always write about what you believe in and be truthful. 

Do all these several times, again and again and you’ll start noticing traffic coming to your blog.  Never give up, I almost gave up several times but seeing other blogger’s success stories made me continue with it and I’m glad I did! 

I hope you all find this conversation helpful if you're also trying to find ways to build your online traffic to your blog.  It's not an easy task but wash, rinse, and repeat these steps several times a week and you'll start seeing more traffic to your blog.
