While I was sitting around on Sunday, I took to my phone to watch some YouTube videos from some of my favorite beauty bloggers. While browsing through videos, YouTube suggested me to watch “The Ugly Truth about YouTube & Business” by Taren Guy. Taren Guy made some valid points about knowing your worth when it comes to dealing with advertisers. A lot of advertisers wants something for nothing while you do all the hard work for them like vlogging/blogging about their products, advertising their products on social media, and so on. Companies have budgets to advertise their products and vloggers/bloggers should be included too. Don't work for free for them and let them use you! When it comes to receiving free products from companies for you to review to your audience, Taren Guy suggested that you really should be getting compensated for it if your following numbers are high. Since I'm a product review blogger and receive free products from companies, at this time I do not charge for my reviews but when it comes to advertorials, I do. My numbers when it comes to followers isn’t high enough yet to charge for product reviews if I wanted to go that route. But the question is, is paid product reviews actually genuine reviews? Do you think that vloggers/bloggers should be paid for reviews or is the product itself the compensation?
