The second rule is to start your account right away.  Amazon has a rule that you have to wait ten days to cash out any money. 
This goes quick but can be frustrating.  Another rule to remember is that in order to cash out to your bank account you need ten dollars.  Amazon does give you an option to use the money earned as gift certificates and allows each dollar to be converted. 
This could be a nice way to pick up some DVDs, mp3s and clothing.  


Some additional hints to think about are finding some requesters who you like and pay quickly. There is a benefit of hits being approved and paid quickly besides just the cash going in your account. Mechanical Turk takes a look at how many hits you have outstanding and the rejection rate.  Having hits approved quickly will allow you to be able to do more and not get cut off for the day after having a few hits done.  Another quick thought to think about with requesters (employers or the people who pay for the jobs) is that if you reach $600 earned that amount will become taxable income for you.

some extra cash at night, or on the weekends. It can serve the purpose of earning some extra cash for clothing, food, or other wants while at college. Mechanical Turk is perfect for students looking for a little extra cash and most likely won’t interfere with your studying time as much as many other jobs might.
