How to Promote Your Virtual Assistant Services Among Your Clients Every virtual assistant will at some point get to the point where he or she wants to offer discounts or promotions to their clients. This is an excellent strategy for a lot of reasons, not solely for the fact that it gives the impression that you really care about your customers. Giving discounts for bulk orders or large orders is one thing, but offering incentives to some of your most loyal customers is something else entirely. Discounts for clients Before you begin promoting discounts for your business, you have to think about several things that might actually harm your reputation. First of all, never give too much away. When you are prepared to offer a lot of your time for free or for a reduced price, it sends out the signal that you do not value your own services. Clients and potential customers are going to look at that as a red light. After all, if you don't value your own services how good could they actually be. With this in mind, it is okay to offer small discounts, but don't go overboard. You may think a bigger discount will look more attractive to your new clients, but in the end it might just end up driving them away. Incentives So let's say you have a pretty strong base of loyal customers and you want to offer some incentives to keep them coming back, or maybe you just want to show your gratitude for the support they have given you. One important note – these techniques don't work as well with new customers. Most of these strategies are for clients with whom you have built up a pretty strong working relationship. Paypal Invoices One of the easiest ways to alert your clients to your discounts and incentives is to include something about it at the bottom of the invoices that you send them. For example, Paypal invoices allow you to place notes to the receiver at the end of the main invoice, and you can easily mention an incentive that they will receive on their next order if they do it within X number of days, or if they order X number of hours from you. The details are open to whatever works best for you. E-mail client list Another way to do it is to send out an email to your subscriber list. If you have a blog or website with a lot of people signed up for updates, this is the fastest way to get news of your promotions out to the largest number of targeted people. This works for new clients as well, people who have subscribed to your list but have not yet made the leap to hiring your services. Just give a quick mention that these discounts are for “subscribers only” and it will seem like a privilege to be able to work with you at the discounted rate. Of course, you could always just make a blog post about it as well; there are plenty of ways to get the word out.
