Building a Cheap Online BusinessMany people who consider starting their own online business are often put off because they worry they do not have the massive start-up funds often associated with new businesses. However, with a bit of research and a good business plan it is possible to start an online business without having to commit to a massive outlay of funds. There are a number of ways that it is possible to get businesses going online that start paying for themselves almost immediately and that require very little cash to launch. This article will look at a couple of these low-cost routes to online businesses: Firstly, there is no need to spend any money on expensive designers and programmers. When you’re starting out there is no longer any need to fork out thousands of dollars to a website designer to get your own bespoke page. No matter what kind of site you are after, chances are you will be able to find a free-to-download template that will do the trick. The easiest way to find something like this is to start off using the Wordpress platform. You can either do this by going with a website hosting company that includes it within Cpanel or you can download it from the Wordpress site yourself and upload it to your host. Once Wordpress is in place all you need to do is search through the hundreds of thousands of free Wordpress templates for one that suits the purpose of your business. Wordpress is simple to get to grips with and you can be up and running almost immediately with your new business website for just the few dollars a month for hosting. Next, consider what it is you are going to be selling. If you have a service to sell yourself, such as design or copywriting, then all you need to do is advertise your skills (include a portfolio) and work on SEO and marketing (see below). On the other hand, if you want to go into business selling products, you need to work out what products are going to sell well and how much demand there is for them This will involve trying to sell so called ‘long-tail’ products that will provide an income but wont require thousands of dollars being spent on marketing and SEO. Use Google Keyword Research and sites such as Amazon to work out what might provide a good income but won’t cost to compete. Once you have worked out what you want to sell, consider how you are going to sell it. If you are trying to start a new online business with very little funds then rather than buying stock and storing it, you might be better setting up a site that concentrates on affiliate sales. You can either do this through links to Amazon, or sign up to one of the many affiliate companies and search out someone selling your products and offering the best percentages on affiliate sales. As the business grows you can then gradually move into buying and selling your own stock for more profits. Finally, whether you are selling products, or your own services you will still need to do some marketing and SEO work. This is easier than it sounds. Writing guest posts and regularly updating your social media feeds are free ways of building great SEO (and customers) for your site, as are installing things like All-in-One SEO to your Wordpress template. Also, get involved with forums relating to your niche and be proactive in replying to people who take an interest in your social feeds. These are just a few ways of getting an online business up and running for next to no money. There are all kinds of other ways to cut corners, from doing your own accounts to guerilla marketing in the area you live (putting flyers for your site wherever you go). With a bit of clever marketing and some decent research it is possible to make a successful online business from almost nothing.
