The world of work is changing and now more than ever, workers are choosing to stay at home rather than endure a long commute to the office. As our lives are more hectic than ever; employers are becoming more flexible with working conditions, allowing employees to work in a way which suits them. There are many benefits to working from home, rather than spending long days in the office. Family Time One of the main benefits to working from home is that gives those with families more time to spend with their children. It can be a huge advantage, as many people don’t quite have the work and life balance right and end up spending long hours at the office which means that family time becomes practically non-existent. As long as workers are getting the job done at home, there is no reason why they can’t be as productive as they would in the office and it also means they will be happier if they get adequate time with their family. Hours to Suit Some people work best in the morning, while others prefer to put in a late shift, so working from home can give employees the option of which hours they choose to suit their lifestyle. It can help to make workers more productive as they will work during the hours they feel are most suited to their lifestyle. If the type of work isn’t time dependant, as long as the employee is getting the work done, it shouldn’t really matter what hours they choose to carry out their tasks. Less Stressful and Quieter The working environment can be hugely stressful and busy, which can make it difficult to concentrate. Working from home will eliminate a lot of this stress and give employees the chance to really focus on their work which can make them more productive. Stress is a major factor in employees taking time of sick, so working from home should be able to reduce sickness levels in an organisation. Save Money The cost of fuel is constantly rising so a trip to the office can prove to be quite expensive on a daily basis. Working from home eliminates this cost which can save a lot of money in the long run. Employees may have to take out cash loans to cover the expense of travelling to work, so this reduces the need for such costs. Comfortable Environment If an employee is working in a comfortable environment, it may help to improve productivity as they are able to work to their optimum levels. There can be a lot of distractions when working from home, which is one of the downsides, but as long as workers keep to a tight schedule, there is no reason why they can’t remain as productive at home as they would be in the office. Avoid Traffic Queues Traffic queues can be annoying but it also means that time is taken out from the working day if employees have to spend a lot of time travelling to and from work every day. It also eliminates the stress caused by long traffic queues, which means workers will feel happier and more content and will be much more productive. Environmentally Friendly Working from home saves the need for fuel, which is ideal for those who want to protect the environment. It may be an option to spend some time in the office and some at home, which can still help workers to do their bit for the environment and help it for future generations to come. Jasmin Blunt is a writer who has noticed a shift in the way people work today. She recommends that if remote working isn’t an option and travelling to the office is proving costly, cash loans may be the answer to help in the short term.
