In the blogging world, I see so many people trying to be what they're not or just duplicating what they see others are doing and they wonder why they don't go very far with their blogs. While on Google+ a day ago, I came across an interesting post about 12 Reasons I am Not Migrating From Blogger to WordPress from a blogger I follow. I really commend her for writing this post because I'm just about tired of hearing other bloggers saying you're not professional, or your blog can be shut down any time by Google. Yes, Google can shut your blog down if you don't follow their rules, but as long as you're following them you don't have a problem. I have a blog on Blogger since the Summer of 2012 and I love it! I really enjoy the simplicity of being able to create blog posts and adding html to it, easy to add on plug ins, being able to design my blog to my liking, etc. Plus I really do believe my Blogger blog ranks high for its keyword terms because it's created by Google.
For someone to say using Blogger to blog is unprofessional if you're using it for business purposes is ludicrous! You'd be surprise all the PR companies and businesses contacting me every day to advertise on my blog or attend their events. So many people think that WordPress is the only way to go. I've heard so many horror stories about WordPress like, easily getting hacked, harder to design, and just plain complicated. Why would I want to transfer to that? Now I'm not knocking anyone down who uses WordPress, but if WordPress works for you then great! There are so many other platforms out there that people can use to blog like Weebly (this is a Weebly blog using their Pro account), Tumblr, TypePad, LiveJournal, and so on. Just find a blogging platform that's right for you. Since I'm in a bit of a ranting mood today (probably because I got a nasty head cold), I'm seeing way too many blogs looking all the same. Just no uniqueness to them. If people are trying to get into the big leagues with their blogs, you got to stand out from the crowd. Just do you! Stop following what other people are doing just because you see their blog is successful so you try to duplicate their success. It's not going to happen! You know how bloggers become successful and rise to fame? Because they are themselves and don't go hopping on bandwagons because they see another blogger doing it. Successful bloggers showcase their own personalities and blog about what they're truly passionate about. I've been blogging since 2008 and I must say I really enjoy it! I can be myself, meet other people, help others, and earn a living from it. If you're just starting out blogging, find your purpose and reasons why you want to start blogging and then let your creative juices flow and blogging will come natural to you. It's fine to get some advice from other bloggers but do what you feel works right for you. -Louida
