What do we mean by a blog actually? The term “blog” is actually an abbreviation of the term “weblog”. A blog is a diary kind of website on which readers can comment and contains links to other related posts and articles on various websites and blogs. Blogs differ from traditional websites in that its offer two way communication between the author and the audience and is considered to be more social. Blogs differ greatly in nature and subject
Blogs greatly vary in nature and there are hundreds of blogs related to fashion industry, politics, entertainment, poetry, quotes, general knowledge, and the list goes on. Many kinds of blog stick to one particular topic like web designing blogs, programming blogs, mobile software blogs, and etc. some other blogs focus on a mixture of topics and incorporate links to a wide variety of articles on various other web pages. Also there are blogs which are kind of personal diary containing information about the blogger’s own views, Ideas, life, and opinions. What’s common among all blogs? Of course there are exceptions but all of the blogs have some common aspects which are stated as below: 1. A content area All blogs have a main area of content in which articles and posts are published in an order with the most recent ones on the top. 2. Archives Typically all blogs have archives containing old posts and articles 3. Comment section Virtually every blog has a comment section under each post and article where readers leave their views and opinions about the article or the post. 4. Blogroll Not many blogs incorporate blogrolls but a large number do. Blogroll contains links to other related web pages and blogs so that the readers can search for more information on any article or post at a particular blog. Blog content Content is made up of posts and articles or as you call them “entries”, many blogs have more than one author and each author updates his/her own posts and entries. Content is the essence of a blog. Content determines the quality and nature of the blog, content should be strictly related to the nature of the blog or the title of the post or article otherwise it loses its appeal. An educational blog has content related to educational and learning, a brand’s blog contains content related to services and products, news blogs contains content related to latest news and personal blogs have content related to the author’s life. If the content is not updated regularly the blog loses its color as readers expect to see new, fresh and updated information regularly. Blog comments Everyone wants their blog to be interactive. It’s a great idea to allow readers to leave comments, views, suggestions and ideas about posts and articles published on a blog. The comments enable the author to gain an insight of what readers think about the quality and nature of the content posted. Comments are one of the most attractive features of the Blogs. Of course, Blogs have much more to talk about; the above information is for readers who are not familiar what blogging actually is. Hope you find the article useful!
