Writing has always been something that I enjoyed doing. Seven years ago I went from writing a few poems here or there to making a pretty decent living. If I accomplished this, I am sure that others can also. The first thing I did was study the market to see who would pay me for my writing. After that I needed to know if my writing style was something that people would pay for. Another important factor I needed to know was what I would be paid to write. After taking a look at sites very similar to this site and searching online to see who pays freelance writers to write, I found a few legitimate platforms that helped me launch my writing career. In searching, making sure that one does not fall prey to sites that claim they pay but fall into the scam category is vital.

Tuesday at 10pm EST, I joined in on #BlogElevated Twitter Chat about topic "Bloggers and Taxes". It was a very informative chat that'll help bloggers know a bit better about handling their taxes and deductions. It's important to pay your taxes each year to stay in good graces with the IRS. You don't want to find yourself hit with penalties, fines, or worst, jail time for tax fraud! Below is a list of tips that'll help you know about taxes for bloggers. While I was gathering up documents and receipts to take to my accountant this week to get started on my taxes, a thought came across my mind to talk about investing in your blog business. In order for your blog business to succeed you must invest in it. I know my blog is about earning money for free online but to go above and beyond the free money making opportunities, it'll take money to make money. When I first started blogging, I went the free route. I made some ok income that was enough to pay a couple of bills but I wanted to take my blogs to the next level, and in order to do that I had to start pulling money out of my own pockets to invest in it. Below is a list of investments I did for my blogging business: While I was sitting around on Sunday, I took to my phone to watch some YouTube videos from some of my favorite beauty bloggers. While browsing through videos, YouTube suggested me to watch “The Ugly Truth about YouTube & Business” by Taren Guy. Taren Guy made some valid points about knowing your worth when it comes to dealing with advertisers. A lot of advertisers wants something for nothing while you do all the hard work for them like vlogging/blogging about their products, advertising their products on social media, and so on. Companies have budgets to advertise their products and vloggers/bloggers should be included too. Don't work for free for them and let them use you! When it comes to receiving free products from companies for you to review to your audience, Taren Guy suggested that you really should be getting compensated for it if your following numbers are high. Since I'm a product review blogger and receive free products from companies, at this time I do not charge for my reviews but when it comes to advertorials, I do. My numbers when it comes to followers isn’t high enough yet to charge for product reviews if I wanted to go that route. But the question is, is paid product reviews actually genuine reviews? Do you think that vloggers/bloggers should be paid for reviews or is the product itself the compensation? Guest blogging has long been one of the most popular ways for bloggers to promote their sites. Some bloggers were worried after they heard Matt Cutts’s most recent warning about spammy guest blogging strategies. The truth is that guest blogging is still a great online marketing. However, it is becoming harder to do it properly. Kalen Smith is an avid blogger, freelance writer and SEO consultant that built his career on guest blogging. Kalen recently created a new ebook to help other bloggers get more of a benefit from guest blogging. You can find this new ebook at his website Guestbloggingresources.com. His ebook helps bloggers develop the following skills: It is a fascinating world nowadays – one of opportunity, innovation and initiative. The internet has made it possible for people not only to access information and communicate but also to find opportunities and work places where none have thought to exist. Is it really possible to make money online? Contrary to what many people think, it isn’t as easy as creating a website and then the money flows in. It is a matter of dedication and it depends only on your commitment. To begin, start looking into and trying different approaches; here are some basic ones you can try. Hello everyone! As many of you know I'm a product review blogger on my other blog. A lot of bloggers, especially mom bloggers connect with PR companies and businesses to help review their products and get the word out through social media, email, word of mouth, etc. I really enjoy being a Brand Influencer because I get to learn about the latest new products that companies are trying to promote. Some companies will pay you for sponsor post but when it comes to product reviews, the product is usually your compensation. Doing product reviews and sponsored post can lead to great opportunities like, getting invited to conferences, working for big brand companies, and start making a good income from it. If you head over to ProductReviewMom.com, I've listed companies that offer product reviews and sponsored post for bloggers. Click here. For some, tax season is the best first part of the year because of tax refunds but for people that are self employed like myself, this time of the year makes us cringe! Since I made quite a bit last year, I'm nervous about how much I'll be owing the IRS as well as State taxes. The good thing though is that with my full time job I had extra money paid to taxes to offset my tax bill this year. Remember, even if you've earned less than $400 working from home last year you must report all earned income and that includes gift cards and Pay Pal payments. I'm also hearing that if you've received free products from companies to review on your blog, you must claim taxes on that too. I, myself have to start scrambling around and find out all the free products I got from companies and start adding up the FMV (Fair Market Value) of these products. ARGH! Also if you've earned $600 or more with any company they must send you a 1099 form so you can file your taxes, but you can still file without them. Don't play around when it comes to taxes! I remember back in 2009, I didn't claim all of my work from home income and a year later I was hit with a big tax bill from the IRS and a few years later a tax bill from my state. Remember to keep all your receipts to help filing taxes be much easier. Hire a professional accountant to help you do your taxes. Disclaimer: I'm not a tax professional. Please find a CPA in your area if you have tax questions. Hey everyone! Meet Michal Stawicki, a full time working married father of three that also works from home. He'd like to share with you guys about finding the time in your busy schedule to be successful. Are you looking to earn more money, free up time and follow your life’s true purpose? Become a bus driver. Really? Am I suggesting that you get your commercial driver’s license, saddle up behind the wheel and schlep people around town? Well, not really. The bus I’m referring to is your personal bus - your life. Take a moment and ask yourself “Am I in charge of this vehicle, or do I let the road of life dictate my route?” If you are like most people, if you are like I was, you have a vision for your life that isn’t reflected in how you currently live. You have dreams and goals, but too often “life just gets in the way.” But, I am here to tell you that this doesn’t need to be the case. Really! I believe that everyone has the tools to build their dream life now, despite their past, their busy life and the ‘roadblocks’ that are all too common along this journey.
