Content is king. As long as Internet Marketing lives, there will be endless demand for content. Fortunately, for passionate writers this seems to be as a boon. With strong basic rules of grammar and with some diligence you can make an awesome content writer. The earnings are great. My clients pay me $40 for an article. The beginning, however, is toilsome. Therefore, you need to work hard and work for cents.
How to start content writing business from home?
It is all about reputation. You need to build a strong reputation that speaks on its own. For beginners I suggest to try Freelancer. The outsourcing site is crowded. People are ready to work for $1/500 word. Yes, you have to compete with them. The point is not to run behind money but behind finding long-term clients. Work for some three to four month until you have gained thorough knowledge of the work. Moreover, if you can turn as a specialist in a particular field then that would be an added advantage.
Host your own blog or website
After you have gained few clients, purchase a domain name and host it. Never go for .wordpress.com or .blogspot.com domain names. They might be free but they will ruin your reputation. Hosting in these days is cheaper. Find a reliable hosting provider, complete the design, and include some enticing content. Let your previous clients know that you are now an independent freelancer. You can now pitch for jobs at various job boards like problogger and bloggingpro. As you have a site of your own, you have the rights to choose your price independently. Of course, there is no competition but the aim is to get more clients and get your name out.
What is Next?
Finally, you can work independently from your home. You can also hire other writers to take the workload. Soon you will notice that more and more people will know about your work. Before you realize you will become an authority in the field.
This may all seem too nice to read. The fact is that like everything, it takes time. It took me a year to rise at $40 per post from $1/500 word. In your case, it might be longer or shorter but it will take time. So apart from being persistent, you need to have patience.
