Earlier this week, I discovered a new game on Facebook called "Guess the 90s" which is a trivia game that ask different 90s questions. Well that game gave my poor Galaxy S4 phone the deadly black screen of death. This whole week I've been having withdrawals of not having my phone because I use my phone to keep up with all my emails and social media on the go. Not having my phone has taught me a lesson that I need to find a balance from my work from home life and personal life.

While I was sitting around on Sunday, I took to my phone to watch some YouTube videos from some of my favorite beauty bloggers. While browsing through videos, YouTube suggested me to watch “The Ugly Truth about YouTube & Business” by Taren Guy. Taren Guy made some valid points about knowing your worth when it comes to dealing with advertisers. A lot of advertisers wants something for nothing while you do all the hard work for them like vlogging/blogging about their products, advertising their products on social media, and so on. Companies have budgets to advertise their products and vloggers/bloggers should be included too. Don't work for free for them and let them use you! When it comes to receiving free products from companies for you to review to your audience, Taren Guy suggested that you really should be getting compensated for it if your following numbers are high. Since I'm a product review blogger and receive free products from companies, at this time I do not charge for my reviews but when it comes to advertorials, I do. My numbers when it comes to followers isn’t high enough yet to charge for product reviews if I wanted to go that route. But the question is, is paid product reviews actually genuine reviews? Do you think that vloggers/bloggers should be paid for reviews or is the product itself the compensation? While I was on Twitter reading through tweets from others, I came across Matt Cutts (Head of Google Search Spam) tweet about the Decay and Falling of Guest Blogging. I immediately clicked on his link since my blog does offer guest posting from other bloggers. Basically guest blogging has been becoming out of hand and people are really abusing it just to build links and page rank to their spammy website. In Matt Cutts's blog he says, "So stick a fork in it: guest blogging is done; it’s just gotten too spammy. In general I wouldn’t recommend accepting a guest blog post unless you are willing to vouch for someone personally or know them well. Likewise, I wouldn’t recommend relying on guest posting, guest blogging sites, or guest blogging SEO as a linkbuilding strategy." Hey everyone, Happy Friday! Today I'd like to share with you one of my reader's question and our conversation discussing about making money with her blog. I thought this conversation would help others who'd like to become a affiliate marketer like myself and start making a full time income from it. Check out some of our conversation: Yesterday evening, I had the pleasure of receiving an email from Mama C. at MamaDoesntNeedNewShoes blog. Mama C. has been blogging for 5 months now and needed some advice on how to build her online traffic. I thought sharing our conversation would help others too on how to build traffic to a new blog. Below is our email conversation: Last week, Facebook recommended me to join SITS Girls Fan page since I'm a blogger. Sits Girls helps women with blogging questions and I'm glad I became a fan of their page because I could tell I'll learn a lot from them and other women bloggers. Yesterday's question of the day was, "We have a community member that has been actively trying to grow her blog. She follows all the advice SITS gives as well as others, yet she has had almost no growth in over 10 months. What advice would you give her?" Below is some great answers from the community. Since being a Affiliate Marketer, I've had a lot of ups and downs. One day I think I found a way that works for me and then another day, that way doesn't work anymore.
Affiliate marketing is like a learning experience for me. You can truly make good money from it but you can't rely on doing just one thing. Also there is so much competition on the web that you got to stand out from the rest. I've noticed lately that I'm not earning as much money right now but it could be because it's still the beginning of the year and with my niche being "Making Money Online Free", not a lot of people are searching for ways to make extra income since they got their income taxes back. Right now, this is a prefect time to start doing more link building, networking, forum posting, and also writing more informative articles on Squidoo. I'm also thinking of tapping into Fiverr to earn a little more money. Also word of advice, never just rely on Search Engines for traffic due to changes. One day you can be on the first page for your keyword and the next day you can be on the 50th page. Trust me, I've been through this with Google, so it's important to find other ways to get traffic to your blog or website. Are you a Affiliate Marketer? Do you find it kind of hard to continue to earn passive income from it? You cringe every time you hear those words: "So, what do you do all day?" or: "Since you're at home, can you do this/pick up that/babysit Johnny?" You know they're innocent questions, but you also realize what you actually do all day. It's not:
1) laundry 2) watching soap operas and; 3) eating potato chips Although humiliating and annoying, these kinds of questions are actually a great opportunity to talk about what you really do and why you need a set block of time to get your work done. Seize the chance instead of creating a rift the next time you hear these questions. Here's how: Finding the Time to Make Extra Money Online As you all know, I have a full time job, work from home part time, and also a mother of two daughters. Finding the time to balance all these out is very time consuming!
During the week at my job when it's my down time, I work on my blogs and also complete surveys online for extra money. I've always wonder if I didn't have this down time at work, when would I be able to update my blogs? During the week I'm busy with my daughters like, getting them ready for school, helping them with their homework, cooking dinner, so I never have enough time to blog or complete surveys at home unless I stay up late and that wouldn't be good since I already feel like I'm not getting enough sleep now! I could find the time on the weekends but I like to use my weekends to rest and also spend quailty time with my family. Only time I've made a post on my Money blog on weekends is when there's a contest or giveaway that has a deadline. I look up to people who blogs or work from home full time and also balance out being with their kids at home. How do you find the time to work from home or work on your blog? When do you have time for yourself to relax? Both of my blogs is a way for me to earn extra money to supplement my current income and I'd like to make full time income with my blogs some day, any tips? Would I need to focus on my blogs full time? |
