Earlier this week, I discovered a new game on Facebook called "Guess the 90s" which is a trivia game that ask different 90s questions. Well that game gave my poor Galaxy S4 phone the deadly black screen of death.
This whole week I've been having withdrawals of not having my phone because I use my phone to keep up with all my emails and social media on the go.
Not having my phone has taught me a lesson that I need to find a balance from my work from home life and personal life.
In the blogging world, I see so many people trying to be what they're not or just duplicating what they see others are doing and they wonder why they don't go very far with their blogs.
While on Google+ a day ago, I came across an interesting post about 12 Reasons I am Not Migrating From Blogger to WordPress from a blogger I follow.
I really commend her for writing this post because I'm just about tired of hearing other bloggers saying you're not professional, or your blog can be shut down any time by Google. Yes, Google can shut your blog down if you don't follow their rules, but as long as you're following them you don't have a problem.
For some, tax season is the best first part of the year because of tax refunds but for people that are self employed like myself, this time of the year makes us cringe!
Since I made quite a bit last year, I'm nervous about how much I'll be owing the IRS as well as State taxes. The good thing though is that with my full time job I had extra money paid to taxes to offset my tax bill this year.
Remember, even if you've earned less than $400 working from home last year you must report all earned income and that includes gift cards and Pay Pal payments. I'm also hearing that if you've received free products from companies to review on your blog, you must claim taxes on that too. I, myself have to start scrambling around and find out all the free products I got from companies and start adding up the FMV (Fair Market Value) of these products. ARGH!
Also if you've earned $600 or more with any company they must send you a 1099 form so you can file your taxes, but you can still file without them.
Don't play around when it comes to taxes! I remember back in 2009, I didn't claim all of my work from home income and a year later I was hit with a big tax bill from the IRS and a few years later a tax bill from my state.
Remember to keep all your receipts to help filing taxes be much easier. Hire a professional accountant to help you do your taxes.
Disclaimer: I'm not a tax professional. Please find a CPA in your area if you have tax questions.
Just the other day after doing a bit of Christmas shopping during my lunch break, I sat back and tears began to fill my eyes just thinking about how blessed I am and how my hobby flourished and became a business.
Blogging is a tough, cut throat job since you're competing with other bloggers in your niche but I really enjoy the benefits of being able to earn money from my blogs (EarningFreeMoney.com & ProductReviewMom.com), being able to inspire my readers, and also being able to connect with other bloggers.
Never in a million years I would've thought I'd be where I am today! I thank God every day that he didn't let me give up on blogging because I didn't see the results I wanted. I had to learn that being successful at blogging takes time and then you'll reap the benefits if you continue to work hard with it.
Hey everyone! I wanted to make sure to wish all my fans and followers to have a Happy Thanksgiving. I have a lot to be thankful for and wanted to list them:
1. I'm thankful for being able to maintain two blogs, full time job, and taking care of my daughters. It's hard work but I love every minute of it!
2. I'm thankful for the new partners I teamed up with this year to be able to show you guys companies looking for people who'd like to earn some extra money by completing free paid surveys, focus groups, and clinical trials. Without them, I wouldn't be able to help so many people all over the world looking to work from home without investing anything.
3. I'm thankful for eBay mentioning me in their article about how people can get free products to test from Big Brand Companies.
Hey all! I'm back from my vacation with my family and I had a blast! I traveled to Memphis TN, Tunica MS, New Orleans LA, Pensacola FL, Destin FL, all in 7 days!
Now it's back to reality and I have a lot of work to do. I've received emails from some of you during my trip and I decided to start replying back today due to my weak internet and wifi signal.
I will start posting on my blog tomorrow, so I can start catching up on my work today because I'm very far behind!
I hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July!
The other day I was visiting another online marketer's website and seen she created a post about 30 Things You Didn’t Know About Me and I thought that was pretty cool to let her readers know more about her so I decided to do the same.
Here are 30 Things About Me:
I just got off the phone listening in on Squidoo's Policy changes and what is happening with Squidoo in regards to Google and their updates.
So Squidoo has gotten a bit of a hit from Google due to lenses being created that are thin content, spam, spunned, and creating topics that Google and Squidoo doesn't like, for instance, adult content, gambling, and pharmaceuticals.
The reason why Squidoo was created is for people to create content that the person personally enjoys and cares about. Own what they write.
Squidoo puts their trust in their lensmaster to create high quality lenses that looks good to them as well as Google, but if lensmaster keeps creating cookie cutter lenses with no value, Google will stop sending traffic to Squidoo which will hurt Squidoo as a whole as well as lensmasters.
Squidoo has paid millions of dollars to writers on Squidoo and never bragged about it, but there are people who brag about making hundreds of dollars on Squidoo which brings on people who's main focus is finding ways to game the system to earn lots of money.
So all those eBooks, forums, and people saying you can get rich quick with Squidoo is not the best representation of Squidoo because that's not what it's all about.
When creating a lens, Squidoo is looking for:
3. What Inspires You
What I've noticed about when I write on Squidoo, when I write about the things I love and know a lot about, my lenses does well and get traffic from Google. I barely create sales lenses because my niche is "Working From Home" so that's what I enjoy writing about, not throwing a lens together with a list full of sales products hoping to make sales.
I don't make hundreds of dollars a month like some lensmasters but I'm grateful to make money from the writing I've done.
I'm thankful for Squidoo for providing a great platform for writers to write what they love and also get rewards for doing so.
Glad now they're cleaning up house on their website so it'll be back to the top place for writers.
So if you've been hit by Squidoo filters and get a warning, you have until 1 week to clean up your lens. And if you're a Giant member, you have 3 weeks. Luckily for myself I haven't been hit with the filter.
I haven't written new articles on Squidoo lately because I've been scared about Squidoo's future, but after that 20 min. conference call, I feel a bit at ease and may start writing again soon.
Update- Squidoo just posted link to Live Conference Call.
